Online Safety

The Internet has become an integral part of children’s lives, enabling them to find things out, talk to their friends and access information from around the world.  It is such a wonderful tool, but there are also risks if not used appropriately.  In school, we follow the Education for a Connected World Framework to teach children about online safety.  The contents of the framework are taught explicitly through computing lessons, PHSE and assemblies.

There are lots of great resources out there to support parents too!  Here are links to some of our favourites.

• NSPCC Shareaware Straightforward, no-nonsense advice will untangle the web, and show you how you can be just as great a parent online, as you are the rest of the time. The internet is a great place for children to be. Being Share Aware makes it safer.
• ThinkuKnow has some great videos and games to share with children as well as some good advice for parents.
• Childnet Childnet has some great top tips, games and online safety advice to help parents and children get the best out of the internet and stay safe online.
• BBC – CBBC Stay Safe Gives advice about screen time and many other top tips for parents and children.
• CEOP Works across the UK to tackle online abuse and includesa facility to report abuse.
